lenovo laptop stand

My Windows XP stopped giving me the ability to go to “Stand By” in the “Start”/”Shut Down” menu. What gives?

The only thing I can think is I uploaded some “updates” from Lenovo. Now all I get is the choice to “Log Off”, “Shut Down”, or “Restart”. The “Stand By” feature was critical to my laptop sanity at work. Help!
